GLACIER NATIONAL PARK - DAY 1

Someone was feeling good enough to go swimming today! Jett is at 36 hours of not getting sick.

This park is spectacular! When I envision camping in a national park ... Glacier National Park is it! This park connects to Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada. In 1932 with the International borders linked both governments created the first International Peace  Park. It also remains sacred to the Native peoples.

Glacier National Park is know as the Crown of the Continent. To see the most spectacular sites she has to offer you must drive the Going-To-The-Sun Road. No vehicles or vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet are allowed to drive it. We only drove the first 10 miles of the Going-To-The-Sun Road. Lake McDonald Lodge was our destination.   More on the GTTS Road later as we plan to drive its entire 50 mile length and back tomorrow. We left Jett at basecamp to get some well needed rest. Tim and I had lunch at the lodge and walked around the grounds.

Afterwards we made a quick trip into West Glacier then went back to basecamp to grab Jett for a quick swim. Lake McDonald is 482’ at its deepest and ten miles long  so there were plenty of places to find a good swimming spot. Seems like we were pretty busy for a lazy day!
