BELGRADE, MT to YELLOWSTONE NP!!!

Travel day again! The morning came early for us as we needed to get to Mammoth Campground in Yellowstone National Park as early as possible. I chose this campground for its spacious sites as opposed to its hook-ups.

Mammoth Campground has no hook-ups and it’s a first come, first serve facility. Meaning there are no reservations. We got to Yellowstone’s north entrance at 9am and were in a campsite by 9:30am. The lovely young lady who checked us in went to school in Kissimmee, FL. We asked what her favorite place is to visit in the park and now we will be sure to spend some extra time in the northeast corner of Yellowstone.

We think we got pretty lucky to get the site that we did. It’s a decent size site with a spectacular overlook to a small canyon. And the Yellowstone River is just 300’ away! Our next door neighbors have been full timing in their Airstream, with three toddlers, for just over a year.

So here we are! Located at America’s first national park ... for the benefit and enjoyment of the people.  Checking yet another item off the Bucket List. I’ve been here before but Tim has not nor have we been here with the Airstream.

Made in 1937 this wooden inlaid map of the United States is composed of over 2,544 pieces. It hangs in the lounge of the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel.

We will have plenty of time to explore here so decided to slow the roll today after our arrival. The afternoon went fast as we sat at camp to gather our thoughts on how to conquer the next week. Then not long after lunch we drove the half mile into Mammoth. Our stops included the visitor center, a gift shop and the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. Now that we have a little more information at hand we can better schedule the next few days.
