FAIRY LAKE - August 13th

This week our basecamp is located at my sister JoAnn’s homestead in Belgrade, Montana. We are having a fabulous time here. We woke this morning to banana pancakes!!! Yum.

About five years ago I visited her here and we took the most magical hike to Fairy Lake. One of my all time favorite hikes! So of course I needed to take Tim and Jett there.

Driving about thirty minutes over the pass then seven miles and another 45 minutes up on a steep, narrow gravel road toward the top of the range to the trail head of Fairy Lake we finally made it. The slow bumpy drive up was worth the payoff.

Fairy Lake is a lake in Gallatin County, Montana at the base of the Sacagawea Peak, a part of the Bridger mountains in south central Montana. Leaving my sisters at a 4,499’ elevation we landed at the Fairy Lake Trail head at a 7,610’ elevation.

Beautiful wildflowers. Spectacular views of the surrounding mountain peaks. The hike offered gorgeous and breathtaking lookouts over the glacial crystal blue lake.  The hike and company was just as magical as the first time!

Jett not caring about the photo op, her only concern is being allowed in the water for a swim!

Once back into town we hit Dave’s Sushi and then Lockhorn Cider House  in Bozeman. Both stops are definitely worth a return visit!

A special shout out to my sister/private photographer for the day. THANK YOU! JoAnn has another exciting adventure planned for us tomorrow!
