What a lovely morning. With no checkout time we slept in. Drank our delicious hot pour over coffee all the while gazing over the beautiful lake watching mama duck and her ducklings and waiting for Ms. Moose to reappear. We were hopeful however she never returned.
As you can guess it was very hard to leave this beautiful place. Everyone else that had been boondocking with us left early and a then a father with his three young boys came to fish. It was a joy to watch them learn to cast. Dad stayed busy with keeping three lines untangled and active all the while keeping a close eye on the wandering youngest toddler.
Then the hard work began for us … having to depart and then re-supply. Tim drove us along Turnagain Arm and into Anchorage. It was low tide so no belugas. There we had many stops to make. Fuel. Groceries. Sportsman Warehouse (again). PETCO. Michaels. Office Max. This took half the day to accomplish.
Once we departed Anchorage we drove a few hours out Glenn Highway to a boondocking location we had scouted last month. It’s just a few miles from where we watched the car launch on the 4th of July in Glacier View. Drove past Matanuska Glacier again! Late today we finally landed at Lion’s Head Trail and think it’s a great overnight boondocking location with a pretty spectacular view as well.
One more travel day to get us to our next destination!
