What's outside your window?

It's a bit overcast this morning. Storms are expected today. And since
we've only helped with setting up the field for Alumapalooza I thought
I would post a picture of what we see out our window here at the A/S
factory. It's been interesting watching the changes in the freshly
planted corn field. Roxy loves laying in the fluffy green grass here.
It's gotten to where she refuses to come back to the A/S so we just
leave her out there. Eventually she comes home on her own.

We will be moving to my Aunt's today to make way in the Terra Port for
service customers who have appontments. AND we plan on a great BBQ at
my Aunts. We will be back here tomorrow and will be parked in the
field for the start of ALUMAPALOOZA!!! I am so ready!!! Woo-Hoo and a
yiiipppeee ki-yay!!!

Hang'n at the JC!!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for Roxy. She seems to be feeling
a little better this morning. But it will take a few days for her to
be 100%. She has fourteen days of meds ... That should do the job.

We are hanging at the A/S factory for the weekend. Getting ready for
Alaoalooza that will begin on Tuesday. I can't wait. In the mean time
I found a few dozen Airstreams to pull home. LOL Here's a picture of
one.

It's all about Roxy today.

We had an idea Roxy wasn't feeling well. So off to the vet we went
today. She has a little infection and should be feeling better soon.
This picture was taken at the vets office. The Doc was great and we
were very thankful they took us on such a short notice. The Doc had to
leave as soon as he was done with her because he had a few farm calls
to take care of. I guess some livestock & horses were having babies.

For now we are back at Jackson Center in Ohio at the A/S factory. All
the RV parks are booked for the holiday weekend. We were going to go
to the National Museum of the US Air Force today. But will make that
another day once Roxy gets to feeling better.

As luck would have it . . .

We have found the worst camp site ever. Our reserved site at Natural
Bridge in Kentucky was available one day early. Yiiiipppeee . . . BUT
once we arrived we couldn't find our site. OH! What's that outside the
campground on the road? Our site?

So at our site we would have had to parallel park on the exit road
with people driving around us to leave. Once we stepped out of the
trailer into the ditch we could cross it to sit on our crooked picnic
table on the embankment and watch our campfire catch the low hanging
trees on fire. Or watch the temporary river flow thru our camp/ditch
when it rained.

We blew that popcicle stand quickly. Like it was on fire. Drove a few
hours north to Blue Lick Battlefield in KY just for the night. Not
sure where we will land next to figure our mess out .... The adventure
continues. At least there wasn't a huge radio tower in the center of
the site.

Any way here is a picture of Roxy giving a quick shout-out to a cute
little friend of ours.

Oooops . . .

I was so quick to put out my last post I forgot to update everyone on
our service appointment. Airstream was able to fix two of the three
major problems we had. The third issue Tim will tackle when we return
home. But I am very happy that my baby is rock solid now.

Mexican food in Ohio

Is really good. So are the drinks. Tim & I had a very nice dinner with
my Aunt Martha who lives about twenty minutes away from Jackson
Center. Roxy has really enjoyed her time outside here. And I have
found a new TV. Not sure it will fit through the front door at home.
But I can try. It's a flat screen mounted in the rear section of an
Airstream. It's all set up to put your DVD player and cable boxes in
the trunk. LOL

We are back tracking today to Kentucky. But we'll be back here for the
start of Alumapalooza next week. Can't wait!!!

We're here!!!

We have landed at The Mothership. Our Silver Palace is here for a
scheduled service appointment. As they pulled her away with the John
Deere tractor at 7am I felt like I was leaving a child unattended at a
hospital. It will be a long day awaiting her outcome. Call me Auntie
M!!!

Dry Camping!

On Sunday we landed at Cades Cove Campground in The Great Smoky
Mountains National Park. I think the nearest town is Townsend, TN.
And drove Roughly ten miles up a mountain with switch backs. We've
been dry camping there for two nights. Meaning . . . no water, no
electric and no septic hook-ups. Also there is no cell or Internet
service. As luck would have it this has been one of our best camping
spots EVER. I guess we now must make this a destination and not just a
layover spot. While here we are also catching up on our reading. Tim
has his new Wally book. And I a book borrowed book from a fellow
Airstreamer . . . Steinbeck's TRAVELS WITH CHARLEY. Both very
appropiate reads for our travels.

We drove the Cades Cove Loop. This is a must do eleven mile single
lane one-way drive through a cove (valley). This cove has many
preserved cabins & barns from a settlement started in the early
1800's. There are many hiking trails all over with one being about a
five mile hike to the Appalachian Trail. We must come back here to do
more hiking and exploring. We as Americans are very fortunate to have
these places to go to.

Now we are headed farther north today to yet another state. We'll see
how far we get on this leg of our journey.

For the movie buffs ...

We had a great dinner at The Whistle Stop Cafe. Tim & I shared some
FRIED GREEN TOMATOES. Tim had fried chicken with all the fix'ns and I
had some Bennett's BBQ. So they say . . . the secrets in the sauce.

Now we are headed to a higher elevation today. Our next stop on this
expedition will be at a National Park.

Three . . . Two . . . One . . .

And we've had a successful launch of day ones road trip. We made it
safely to High Falls State Park in Jackson, Georgia. Mmmmm . . . Can't
wait for my special dinner tonight. I'll take pictures of course.

Here's to Airstreams . . .

Pink flamingos and road trips. Oh and Roxy as well. She is ready to go and patiently waiting by the Airstream. T-Minus TWO days and counting. Woo-Hoo and a yiiipppeee ki-yay!!!

September 1, 2023 - HOME SWEET HOME

Finally home! What was supposed to be a seven hour drive became ten. We had a few stops along the way that added a little time.  But it the...
