9/9 - ANGEL’S PALACE

Even with a lazy morning Tim and I, along with Jett, were able to get two hikes in today. Since we are not in bear country here, dogs are allowed on trail in Kodachrome.

First up was Angel’s Palace Trail. With redrock hoodoos and unsurpassed views of Kodachrome Basin this makes for the most popular trail here. The trail head was not far from the Airstream and the three mile round trip hike was pretty easy. Looks harder than it actually was.

From a few of the overlooks we could see back down to the Airstream sitting in the box canyon below. Jett did really good. She is a great trail dog. Always has to lead, knows the way and stays on trail.

The second hike of the day took us to Kodachrome Nature Trail. Jett came too and the trail head was again very close to basecamp. Jett seemed a little tired but hiked it like a champ.

Since Jett had decided numerous times today to try to take a siesta in the shade along our hikes she developed redrock butt. By the way this syndrome does not compliment a black lab. Redrock butt sticks to an already dirty dog and will NOT brush off. There is no evidence but prior to sunset Jett did enjoy a spa-like bath. She smells lovely and is all fluffy now. Shhhh!

Tomorrow, Tuesday, will bring another moving day for us. I’ll be super excited to tell y’all about it. We have been to this location previously, about five years ago, and have stayed in the exact same campsite. Did I mention it’s my favorite place ever?

Today marks 50 days on the road’
