A LIVING LEGEND . . .

Story of the longhorn . . .We came across some very interesting information on the Texas Longhorn. The Spaniards brought cattle to Mexico that eventually came to Texas. One breed developed into the Longhorn. At one time these magnificent animals saved Texas from economic ruin.

The day of the Longhorns' has come and gone. New modern breeds have been introduced. A group has saved what they consider to be the best examples of the breed in order to preserve and protect one of Texas' historical assets. Part of this official herd is now at Copper Breaks State Park.

Before we even got out of the park, out of nowhere, a big grasshopper launched into the truck landing on me. Arms flailing and me screaming the thing finally landed on the dash. I made Tim stop and get out of the truck to come remove it. Note: No animals were harmed in the making of this blog.

                     ONLY IN TEXAS

The terrain is now constantly changing. We've crossed though the rest of Texas, New Mexico and a small portion of Colorado. We've traveled through many miles of oil fields, prairie, grasslands, windmills and now finally into the mountainous region of southeast Colorado.

For this evening we have put out our anchor at Trinidad Lake State Park in Colorado. Beauti-mous!!! We have a loose plan in place for tomorrow and I hope to meet up with a very special friend of mine.
