D86 - 07/23/24 LAND’S END

Love Homer Spit. No rain today but still very overcast. We did a walking scout out to the end of the spit and to the end of the land. Our exploration also took us around the local docks and back through the closest shopping section of town to us. The weather was definitely better today and it is really trying to clear.

I love all the Coast Guard buoys. Crab traps. Waterfront. Shops. People. Smell of the ocean. I swear it’s the cleanest oceanfront sea life I have ever smelled. Love the local vibe and how much everyone, both locals and tourists alike, enjoy the area as well.

Tim and I decided that in order to not burn out on salmon we needed an alternative for dinner tonight. So we wound up back at Finn’s Pizza. Made reservations for 5pm. Had the place upstairs to ourselves. What a beautiful and lovely place to enjoy the evening. Simple yet soothing and sophisticated. The view was stunning!

What did we get? The Blue Pear Pizza with olive oil, mozzarella, thinly sliced D’anjou Pears, roasted pine nuts, gorgonzola, grana and fresh cut basil. Delicious! And a cold local draft Red Knot Irish Ale. So much fun stepping outside the box to try something new. If our time here allows we will definitely return for their Greek pizza.

Afterwards this evening we met up with the Sisters on The Fly hostess for this event. She along with her husband are just lovely. We look forward to getting to know them, along with the other sisters attending, as the week passes. Then back at basecamp, as we were sitting outside enjoying this spectacular view, one of the Airstream South Carolina couples found us and came to visit. It’s always great catching up with them to see where they have been and what they have done. Love that our paths continue to cross.

After they departed the fog moved in. We can now barely see across the street and just to the water’s edge in the opposite direction behind the Airstream. Here we thought it was going to clear. The sun had even begun shining while at Finn’s. Wow. Crazy how in the blink of an eye the weather changes so quickly here. I can’t even see The Salty Dawg Saloon anymore!

Tomorrow will be fun as most of the sisters will arrive. Tim and I have the day to head back into Homer for a few things. Then tomorrow evening is when the fun begins with a few SOTF meet and greets.

Enjoy the pictures everyone!!

D140 - 09/15/24 TWIN FALLS, IDAHO

Travel day! Not much excitement except for one brief moment in time. I spotted a herd of elk migrating across a field. There were probably 3...
