The drive farther north today was just over four hours. But four equals five on our driving gauge. I usually add time for fuel stops, lunch and restroom breaks.
Our journey today took us off the Alaskan Highway. Currently we are driving on the Klondike Highway continuing to head north. There are many reasons we choose this route and hopefully we chose correctly. Either way we are having an amazing Epic Adventure!
We did make a stop at Five Finger Rapid on the Yukon River. Here a big danger was posed, back in the day, to those in the Klondike stampede. The swift waters and narrow channels were a dangerous challenge.
There was not much wildlife at all that we saw. But wow the wilderness is vast! The Yukon has desolate beauty. The roads were slightly worse as we were definitely dodging pot holes and heaves today. Glad that we were following ’Bob’ for most of our drive to give us fair warning.
Once we thought the road was getting better. Then at about five miles from our designated stop for the evening we hit construction! Not any construction but rip the road up need a guided pilot kinda construction. They had just run the water truck on it. Not that it matters but we definitely need a wash now. It lasted at least 3-4 miles. We have landed at Moose Creek Provincial Park for the evening. It’s very nice here. Quiet. No services. No cellular. Perfect. Elthree-37 is deployed and working flawlessly!
This is not the worst road we have towed our Airstream on. This is not the dirtiest the Airstream has ever been. This will not be the worst of what’s to come … North to the Future! 🏔️
