D34 - 06/01/24 GOAT WATCHING GOING NOWHERE FAST

As it turned out we did a whole lot of nothing today. Reorganized some items. Took a day off from ‘what’s next’.

Had a day of serenity and seclusion. Viewing some of the most stunning natural landscapes right here at our basecamp. The weather was overcast with little hints of sun throughout the day and a few very brief sprinkles of rain.

Here are some interesting facts and information about Muncho Lake. It’s seven and one half miles long and almost a mile at its widest point. Some say it’s over 700’ deep but government officials have only measured 400’ deep. The jade-green color comes from copper oxide leached from bedrock below. The largest lake trout caught from this lake was 50 pounds.

Details of how we spent our day here at Muncho Lake:

1st Coffee! (pour-over technique)

Watch mountain goats. ๐Ÿ

Breakfast & mimosas!

Watched mountain goats!

Clean Airstream windows.

Watch goats again.

Had 2nd coffee.

Watched the goats!

Research tomorrow’s move.

Watch goats.

Walk Jett.

Watch goats yet again.

*The white mountain goats are directly across the lake from us on the rocky vertical portion of the mountain. There are at least five scattered on the mountainside we think, including a mama and her kid. I can’t help but look for them with our binoculars. It was a great pastime for a do-nothing day!

*Last minute note: Right before I posted this we had a little rain shower. Then the double rainbow appeared. It’s after 9:30 pm!!
