D33 - 05/31/24 THE SUN CHANGES EVERYTHING

Woah! Thought it was only going to get down to 35*F here last night at Buckinghorse. Awoke to 26*F outside! It was 37*F inside! Eeek!! I woke up in the middle of the night and thought my face was really cold. Just made sure Jett was covered and threw the blanket over my head. Tim got up early and discovered the low temperatures.

I saw a quote this morning in my CALM app … ‘Awareness is like the sun. When it shines on things they are transformed.’ And so it happened today! The sun was out!! After driving through Ft. Nelson and making our purchases we continued to move farther north. The town is super lucky to have not been completely burned. Only about a half dozen homes were destroyed. We passed miles of burnt trees and a few crews still working hot spots.

The landscape north of there was awe-inspiring. It changed from the rolling hills of pine forests, to aspen, to mountains, to steep beautiful rocky mountains following along and next to the winding Toad River. Finally the road dropped back down and ran along side Muncho Lake. Saw the most wildlife today! No moose racing involved. Just a little sprint with the stone sheep.

A dream in the bucket list was to stay at Muncho Lake on this Epic Adventure. Got so lucky with no reservations and found one of the best lake front reserve only sites available for two nights. Absolutely one of the most gorgeous places on this earth.

Our evening ended with taking Jett for a swim, watching the mountain goats across the lake climb the cliffs and then a tasty dinner of fresh made from scratch chicken pad Thai. Delish!

Last night at the museum we had rain off and on throughout the night and very strong winds. Other than that it was a very quiet night. Oh an...
