As much as we could have stayed at Muncho Lake another few weeks we decided to move on. Checked on the goats before departure. Then north towards the future we headed!
While we were packing up to depart Tim ran the generator for an hour and a half and had also ran it for about an hour last night. Without full sun the solar was not fully recharging our batteries.
Other than our quick jump from one campground loop to another back in Jasper NP, today would be our shortest drive so far on this Epic Adventure. Drove about forty minutes north to Liard River Hot Springs Provincial Park. This is the second largest hot spring in Canada. We have a nice cozy campsite here. Walked all the way out the half mile boardwalk to the Hot Springs to scout it out. The spring is surrounded by a lush boreal spruce forest. What a beautiful tranquil setting. And the spring temperature is like warm bath water.
On our return to the Airstream we did our weekly family zoom call. It’s great to see everyone! Sorry I kept freezing up. We are tree locked here in his campsite. Tim had to put on Elthree-37’s boots to be able to set her on the roof of the Airstream to get some reception.
Afterwords we went back out to the hot springs! Ready for our soaking. On our way we came across two moose along the boardwalk. They are known to feed here in the warm swamp waters. Then when we got to the hot springs we figured (from earlier) that we would lounge in the hottest of the three pools. NOT. It was way hotter than we thought. The mid-pool was where we settled. The lower pool was good as well but LOVED the mid-pool temps.
Our amazing soak lasted darn near two hours. The hot springs are so soothing. With water temperatures of 42*C to 52*C (107.6* F to 125.6*F). Tim and I had great conversations with other travelers. Some we are now beginning to see from stop to stop. This location will definitely be one to remember!
