July 15, 2021 - Wind Cave National Park

NOT!

We made our way to Wind Cave National Park this morning. So far we have been pretty lucky with all the crowds. As we pulled into the parking lot there was a line for cave tours that came out the building down the sidewalk and then had already started to parallel the parking lot. Not only did the line make us hesitant about trying to get tickets but there were no parking spaces open.

Wind Cave can only be seen by a ranger led tour. Depending on the tour only 30-40 people are allowed per tour. The first tour had just started. The next tour would be at 10:00A and my guess was there were already 50 plus people in line outside for that next tour plus a lobby full of people. Which meant we would have had to wait until at least 11A or 12P or later to take a tour. We knew this could be the case before we arrived and decided to move on.

The road continued south and we landed in Hot Springs, SD. Cute little town. It was still early and not much open so we decided to return to Custer to have an early lunch at the Buglin’ Bull Restaurant.

It was delicious and a good decision. On tap was an Elk Poop Stout. It was pretty tasty! We also had a couple of Apple Spinach Salads with roasted fuji apple, bacon, craisins, candied almonds, blue cheese and honey balsamic vinaigrette.
