10/12 - BALLOON FIESTA - DAY 8

First shot of the day was taken right after walking Jett. I didn’t even have to leave the Airstream. Dawn Patrol came right over us.

Today was our last full day here at Balloon Fiesta. The feeling about leaving tomorrow quickly goes from we had so much fun! To where did the time go? Twelve days in Albuquerque is a lot. Nine of those spent on Fiesta grounds. We have seen so many hot air balloons. Too many to count. Believe me when I say we tried! This is hands down one of the most spectacular events anyone can go to!! It never gets old.

Our morning was spent different than any morning we have ever had here. Tim and I decided to slow the roll and take our chairs and a blanket onto the field. We even brought our coffee and breakfast too.

We found a great location on the south end up on the berm. Laid claim to a spot and set up our chairs and chilled (really froze). It wasn’t as cold as yesterday morning but because we weren’t moving it seemed much colder. As it turned out this is yet another way to really enjoy the experience of Balloon Fiesta. From our vantage point we could see the entire field and all of the balloons as they launched.

We spent the afternoon and evening at the Airstream getting ready for tomorrow’s departure. With this evening being the most attended night at Balloon Fiesta we decided that it was best to stay put. My guess would be that there was over 100,000 people on the field this evening.

Tomorrow is moving day! Tim and I will be heading south to ‘crash’ nearby. The drive will be at least three  hours depending on how bad the traffic will be getting out of here. We had made this next reservation awhile ago. Necessary due to the THOUSANDS of RVs departing Albuquerque all at once. The next location needed to have full hookups and all the amenities since we have been dry camping for nine days. It will be a recovery location and a fun diversion from any stop we have and so far in this adventure. Here is a little local hint. Well maybe an out of this world hint!
