Jett’s morning walk here in the campground gave us time to explore the area. I was able to take a few more photos of the picturesque campgrounds. We found a covered bridge that goes over a small winding creek. So very nice here. It really should be a National Park.
Tim and I then hiked the Trail of Ten Falls today right here in Silver Falls State Park. The short loop at least. The long loop is 7.4 miles, noted as moderate and covers the ten waterfalls. If we had more time it would be a great to take on.
The short loop portion that we did is a moderate hike as well but only five miles and goes by just seven of the ten stunning waterfalls. Somehow my watch is telling me six miles completed but who’s counting? It’s comprised of the Canyon Trail, Winter Trail and the Rim Trail. This loop trail includes three waterfalls that you can actually walk behind. I thought you could only walk behind one. Bonus!
One thing I would recommend before going on any hike is to read the reviews. I did this last night. Amazing reviews! One review that stuck with me said only two words … ‘Go clockwise!’. Hmmm? So we did! Also in the reviews two of the falls were noted as dry due to end of season snow melt. But with the rain here the last few days we only found one waterfall dry. Another bonus!
Going clockwise, not long after the first waterfall and right before the second waterfall we came across the stairs. And lots of them! Good thing they were going down and that we were not having to climb up them. Hah! Maybe that was the reasoning behind the loop direction?!
The weather was perfect and the trails were beautiful. The foliage! The trees!! We saw the seven waterfalls. Stopped to eat our packed lunch at Double Falls. There are no words for how absolutely incredible the trails are and how beautiful the stunning waterfalls are. I know it’s always fun and amazing to hike to a waterfall. But to see seven in one hike with the potential to see ten in one day. WOW!! It was another incredible day of this Epic Adventure!
