D147 - 09/22/24 LEAVES PEEPING … I MEAN EXPLODING

This morning I started out doing more laundry. Mine this time and we still have linens and towels to do. While I was at the laundry hanging out with a few new friends the moose incident happened. Very rare to see them here. Actually it’s only about the third time that one has ever been sighted in the campground.

While in the laundry a gentleman opened the door and yelled ‘There’s a moose across the river by your trailer’. Whaaat? Little did I know Tim already knew that as Jett barked and warned him. Now everyone (except me) ran across the bridge to see the moose! I saw him by the Airstream across the bridge. Tim got a fuzzy picture through the front window screen. A few others who happened to be outside next door got some great shots! It was definitely an exciting moment for the campground.

By the way fall equinox is here! The September equinox is an occasion in Earth’s yearly orbit around the sun. At an equinox, the sun appears directly above Earth’s equator. Because of its location above the equator it’s now bringing summer to the Southern Hemisphere and winter to the Northern Hemisphere. On this day, days and nights are approximately, but not exactly, equal in length for everyone across the globe. Interesting to know this after having been in Alaska for Summer Solstice.

This afternoon after just knowing we weren’t going anywhere today Tim and I landed in Rico. One of my favorite places. Not much there.  A small town originally settled as a silver mining town. Currently with less than 300 people living there and with all of its stunning surroundings it is definitely one of our favorite places. On the way to Rico we discovered that the leaves have not only begun to peep but they are on the edge of exploding! Just a stunning vivid color of what’s to come!

Last year while visiting here we had a specific question about parking in Rico and there is no one to ask. So we asked the bar tender/owner and he told us the regulation but also added …. It’s not like we have a Marshal to police that! LOL

The afternoon went so fast seems like in no time we were back at basecamp and ready for our Sunday Family Zoom Session. I did get lucky and snagged the Rock Paint Kit before Zoom Thirty and before the office closed today. Awesome!!

More tomorrow! Now we are on moose patrol!!
