D145 - 09/20/24 COLORADO

The Epic Adventure now continues in Colorado. The landscape getting here was amazing to watch it change. We went from no trees to small Utah Junipers to Aspen, Blue Spruce and Ponderosa Pines.

The most spectacular thing about today was the leaves are beginning to change here. The Quaking Aspen are peeping! Perfect timing for us. They should change even more by the time we depart here.

Basecamp for this evening is in one of our favorite places in Colorado. We are south of Telluride in the San Juan Mountains. Reasons we love it here other than it being a stunning location … we are right on the Delores River. There are other opportunities to boondock and camp in the national forest here that we love. We can fly fish for trout right from our campsite. There are other great options to fish nearby. This basecamp is located close to Rico, Telluride, Ouray, Silverton and Durango. Great places to off-road and to hike. Jett loves it here and has already made herself at home! LOL

Perfect timing again for us to land here today. Every Friday afternoon they have Navajo Tacos and frybread. We had just enough time to set-up and walk back across the bridge to get our tacos. And this is the last Friday of the season they will have this event. They were just as delicious as last year!

One thing that has changed over the last few weeks is we moved out of bear country. However while in the desert we switched to keeping an eye out for fox, rattle snakes and cactus. Now we have moved back into bear country. They have recently spotted a black bear near the campground.

And might as well tell everyone now. Our original plan was to get home around November 1st. Plans have changed and work is now calling. Our new arrival places us back home two weeks early around mid October. And there ya go everything can change with our schedule so quickly.
