D133 - 09/08/24 FORKS

Today turned out to be a travel day! It was a short drive that took us back into Olympic National Park and along the beautiful shore of Lake Crescent. Highway 101 weaves its way along its almost twelve miles of crystal clear southern shoreline.

Our journey took us through the town of Forks, Washington. While in town we decided to pull over for a quick break and there just happened to be a drive through coffee shop in the lot that I turned into. Mocha Motion! These drive through coffee shops seem to be everywhere in the northwest and Alaska. Well there’s a first for time everything. Since I was driving I took the Airstream through the drive through. There was no overhead or narrow drive to maneuver so it was pretty easy. So first drive through with the Airstream and our first real Washington coffee!

Basecamp for the next few days is near Forks. We are boondocking in a very special location right on the Hoh River that I have wanted to visit for a number of years. Love it here! We’ve been lucky enough to meet-up with another Airstream couple and their dog that we have known for a few years. They actually full-time in their Airstream and arrived here a few days earlier.

We enjoyed our evening sitting outside with them by their campfire. Jett got to see her boyfriend Milton but was being a bit fussy today. She was able to get a swim in before dark and will hopefully get another swim in tomorrow if the sun is out. We should all sleep good tonight!
