D131 - 09/06/24 EDIZ HOOK AND TONGUE POINT

Well we slept in. Me almost until 9am. Unheard of. This eye darkening mask rocks! Then it turned into a two coffee morning but no big breakfast because time was slipping away. Tim needed to get working on the truck’s A/C. We still took time to whale watch while having our coffee. No whales this morning!

While he worked on the truck I was able to clean the mini blind that hangs over the kitchen galley. Now that we are done with the dusty roads of Canada and Alaska I am able to do some of the detail cleaning inside the Airstream. I also took better pictures of our campsite in better lighting.

Tim got the new part installed and bad news it did not fix the situation. Next he hooked up the A/C gauges that he purchased yesterday. Again no good answer from this process. So our next step is to try to look ahead at a dealership that we might be near for a few days. Problem with that is we have obligations to make over the next month and can’t slow down. Basically the ball is rolling downhill and there’s no stopping it. If you remember we tried getting the A/C fixed back in July in Anchorage but they couldn’t get us in until November. We will make a few calls tomorrow to see what we can figure out.

This afternoon we drove back to Port Angeles. The Visitor Center for Olympic National Park is located on the outskirts of town there. Glad we didn’t go yesterday, while towing, the parking lot is not huge at all to accommodate big rigs. I was able to get my NP Passport Book stamped and we got some good information on the park.

On our way back into town we drove out to Ediz Hook by the Coast Guard Station and then we stopped for a bite to eat in town at 929 Woodfire Grill. It was delicious! Then once we got back to basecamp we took a nice hike with Jett out to Tongue Point. This is a beautiful park! Magnificent views of the marine life sanctuary. Just breathtaking!

Our evening is wrapping up by watching for the cruise ship that Tim’s brother and sister-in-law are on. They should pass through here sometime either later tonight or super early tomorrow morning. We will be waving!!

Travel day! Not much excitement except for one brief moment in time. I spotted a herd of elk migrating across a field. There were probably 3...
