D23 - 05/21/24 LAKE LOUISE - A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE

This morning we took off early to catch the bus from the campground into town. From there we transferred onto the Roam 8x Express bus that would take us straight to Lake Louise. Let someone else do the driving!

Visual overload! I had only recently learned that Lake Louise was still frozen. What a treat!! You know what ya say when you visit somewhere in summer and wished you could come back in the winter to view the amazing scenery? Well here we are!! Winter Wonderland again!

Our photography equipment that we had on hand was both our iPhones, two GoPros and Nikon SLR. We never took out the Nikon but kept the iPhones and GoPros busy.

Words cannot describe the beauty we witnessed today. The vivid turquoise waters were mostly hidden beneath the icy surface. Sometimes peaking out from beneath the ice into our photos. The bright crisp fresh snow more than made up for the lack of brilliant turquoise waters. The soaring peaks were a beautiful backdrop to the bright red canoes. Obviously is shines in all seasons!

Now we have to come back in summer to see what beauty she can offer us in a warmer climate. Either way it’s a stunning mountain setting and we experienced it in a spectacular winter setting!

Tim and I did venture into the hotel. Thinking a hot coffee would be perfect. The coffee line inside was a half mile long and the line for the washroom was probably a mile long. No coffee for us this afternoon! I cannot imagine the summer crowds.

On our return to basecamp we stopped in town for a few groceries. Then this evening while grilling dinner we got surrounded at basecamp by a herd of elk. We kept Jett inside unaware of what was just steps away.

Tomorrow is still up in the air as the weather will definitely be a determining factor as to what we can do!
