Sometimes things don’t go as planned …
MY DREAM VISION:
REALITY:
L O V E that picture with all the dogs in the gondola! I bought it two years ago as a puzzle. I so had it set in my mind that we would get a decent picture of Jett in a gondola. Not! I even brought a hat and a scarf for her! Not!!
Off to Telluride we went for lunch and gondola pictures. There is a free parking garage in the next village over near Mountain Village. Then it takes two different free gondolas (public transportation) to get down into Telluride. First you get on at the Station Village Line at 5,545’ elevation. This takes you down into Mountain Village at 5,540’ elevation. Here you have to transfer over to another gondola line that takes you up to San Sophia Station at 10,535’ elevation. We stay on here! From this point the gondola drops us down into Telluride at 8,750’ elevation. Breathtaking!!
Telluride was almost a bust. We love it there and still do. However we never anticipated loose dogs running around everywhere. We don’t remember that previously. That does not work with an alpha dog on a leash. And we can’t off leash her or she lives up to her name. So we only saw a small portion of Telluride. Trying to avoid off leash dogs as we went. With that said Jett was so good! She acted like a local … stuck up.
We ate at Stronghouse Brew Pub. Pet friendly! The building was built in 1892. It remains the last surviving intact building in Telluride’s historic Four Corners. Was JUST voted #1 Brew Pub in America by USA Today! The food was delicious. Beer was too!! Jett found some French fries. Bonus!! She just chilled after two of her gondola rides and walking around.
Finally we made our way back to the Telluride gondola station. Two more rides to go to get back to the truck. Jett was a pro by now. She gets on and off the moving capsules as if she has always done this.
Our drive back was to camp was easy. We had stopped at Lizard Head pass to check out the BLM area for a possible future stay. There’s a huge drop off the pavement onto the gravel road so we won’t be taking our Airstream here. But we did find this little cutie of a shiny trailer ….
My question … How did they get her down in there without ripping the bumper off?
Nice way to end our day!
