6:38 AM departure! That’s early for us. Gorgeous sunrise!!
I got the hot box/lunch box going. Along with our cold coffee since we didn’t have power here. Wait … the refrigerator got so cold that my filter got froze in the mason jar. Ugh.
Departed anyway leaving the jar to thaw for a bit in the sink of the Airstream. We will stop down the road to check on it. On our way back to the interstate we passed the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site. They weren’t open yet this early.
About thirty minutes away was a truck stop that we decided to fuel at and check on our coffee. It’s not just any truck stop. It’s the largest in the world! Wow. WOW!! Is all I have to say. Buc-ees got some catching up to do.
Finally back on the road, heading east, with thawed coffee and hot breakfast sandwiches we passed more corn. And more beans. South of Chicago we saw an elderly gentleman driving in traffic, busy traffic, on his mobility scooter just like it was a car. OMG … hope he made it home! And they talk about Florida Man.
The afternoon brought more corn and beans. It was 80* when we arrived at our destination. This park is beautiful! Just shy of 300 campsites Potato Creek State Park in Indiana has everything you could need.
Premier birding location. Biking and walking trails. Cabins. Lake for swimming, kayaking and fishing … Lake Worster is 327 acres. A nature center. And an additional equestrian campground with 70 sites. The entire park covers 3,840 acres. It’s the most visited park in Indiana! Jett loves the grass here!!
