Morning weather:
41* outside
50* inside
Forgot to mention at day 13 we emptied the #2 bin on our Natures Head composting toilet. Could have gone longer but due to logistics of moving and not knowing when our next chance would be, we just did it. And maybe we were getting scared!? Anyway easy peasy AND absolutely no smell. Really. We are still liking having made the change.
Our final destination today was Red Lodge in Montana. By chance we were able to see my sister and her husband again as we were passing through Bozeman. Beautiful drive here from Bozeman especially from Absarokee to here. We have stayed at this campground before. Right on the water. LovED the place before. Not so lucky this time. Will possibly post our reasons why but for now we need to absorb what’s happened.
Our site is directly on Rock Creek. And the water is not only flowing. IT IS CRANKING!! This time last year the town flooded. The flood reshaped everyone’s lives here. It was the same flood that devastated Yellowstone NP and Gardiner MT. It was a sudden snow melt. My friend’s home here in town flooded. Downtown flooded. The road and bridges had to be rebuilt.
Another friend and her family helped sandbag the town. This campground was severely flooded. They lost one big campsite, three cabins and a handful of tent sites. The drive leading down there to those … gone. Some trees along the creek there … gone. Poof. All gone!
So after a few hours of … treading our way through the problem … we managed to PARTIALLY fix the problem OURSELVES. Then on a Jett walk Tim says I think I see the problem …
… is that a power pedestal box and water lines in the river embankment??? Ohhh … is that why every other site doesn’t have power?! Could this be the issue? We don’t know.
We do have our power surge protector plugged in. We won’t be running the air conditioner. Protecting things on our end. At least the campsite is in mostly shade! More to come!!
I think there’s a car show in town!
