First before I begin to tell you about the fun adventure driving to Missouri let me tell you how absolutely lovely our night was at the distillery. We were able to keep the windows and drapes open all night without running the generator. When I woke up it was already daylight and I looked up over my pillow to the view above!
The drive from Kentucky to Missouri was a bit long. What was supposed to be a six and a half hour drive turned into eight and a half in the blink of an eye. Somewhere south of St. Louis we were notified on two different apps that a wreck was ahead. If we were to get off at the exit RIGHT NOW we would save eighteen minutes so we did. Well about fifteen minutes into the reroute through a town with narrow streets we came across signs that said ‘Low Clearance 9’6” … uhhh … we are 9’9” and we always round to ten feet for good measure. So we had to turn around and take an even different route to still avoid the wreck. Had we stayed with the wreck route to begin with we would have been ahead of the game.
So here we are just outside of Kansas City, Missouri at a lovely bed and breakfast that we found through Harvest Host. This place is amazing! Beautiful and serene. The perfect location to relax after the day we had driving.
They offer a few camping spots on property with power along with their B&B rooms in the main house. The grounds are well kept with lots of little vignettes throughout to take advantage of. Fire pit, front porch, back patio and even a tire swing!
Tomorrow is another travel day for us. Then one more to get us to a location that we will be at for a week to finally relax. The Harvest Host locations are working out really great for us on this trip. They give us safe, convenient places to stay along the way for our travel days while supporting small businesses and learning about worlds that we would otherwise not have known about.
Our evening ended with a spectacular sunset across the fields …
