Yes! We have landed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Home of my favorite Netflix Series BREAKING BAD. It’s really great to be back here. Before we left Santa Fe this morning, Tim and I got up early to go out for breakfast and you guessed it I had TACOS! The breakfast tacos were so delicious. Scrambled eggs, sautéed zucchini, fire roasted corn, applewood bacon, crisp onions, vine ripe tomatoes, yummy cheese, fresh avocado and who knows what else! We hope it won’t take forever to make a return trip to The Plaza for another amazing breakfast here!
After breakfast we returned to basecamp to fetch Jett and the Airstream. But before leaving town we made a quick pit stop back at Vintage Trailer Supply to get a few items that we forgot from yesterday. While there we were able to meet one of the techs who had helped us earlier in the year with custom tanks for our 1948 Airstream Liner.
The drive to Albuquerque from Santa Fe was just shy of an hour. We have now safely landed at Enchanted Trails RV Resort and Trading Post. We have found more of our people here! It feels like being at home. Coming into a familiar place with friends greeting us as we pulled in was just so much fun.
Our friends from Texas are here whom we have known for years. Along with a few other couples we know. Also a few people we met in Santa Fe this week are now here. This afternoon we met a bunch of new people who have invited us to other events before we go home. And of course they are all Airstream owners. They are in vintage rigs, new rigs and anything in between and are WBCCI, TCT and SOTF members. We are all gathered here to attend Balloon Fiesta! Kind
of a pre-fest to the Fiesta.
Balloon Fiesta is the most photographed event in the world and with almost one million attendees every year its an event to remember. Tim and I have attended before and are so super excited to have the opportunity to be here again. By this Friday morning we will have parked 150 Airstreams in one of the fields on the Fiesta grounds. This will be one of the highlights of this epic adventure.
Balloon Fiesta officially begins this Saturday morning. I have surprised Tim with a balloon flight in the morning. (he does know now) Then on Friday we move onto the Fiesta grounds. This afternoon we walked around finding those we knew and the ‘Texas Mafia’ as they call themselves invited us over for an impromptu dinner gathering. With about an hour to prepare we had a fabulous dinner put together and more friends to last a lifetime.
We do know ‘a guy’ while in town if needed . . .
Tomorrow I sooo can’t wait to share pictures with you from our balloon flight with Rainbow Ryders!!!
