After coffee and breakfast we decided to find our way down to the river. From our loop in the campground there is no direct path. You must zig zag your way through the sage bushes, then the cotton wood trees to get there. By the way Jett does not like the rough sage bushes at all. Some she will just not pass. And she likes elk poop!! Awe Jett!!!
The river is fairly wide here and the current is pretty strong. Probably not the best place for Jett to swim. We still have not heard of any issues with the water here, saw people swimming, but want to get confirmation from a ranger to be sure.
Since rain was in the forecast we decided to spend the entire day at basecamp. After the river walk we decided to leave Jett at the Airstream and walk to the camp office. I really like looking for unique rigs not only for the cool factor but to get ideas and to try to take pictures of them. I keep a separate album of them all. So off we went to looking for cool camping rigs and to see if the cellular reception was any better.
One thing we noticed was the camp office. The picture above was taken two years ago when we just stopped to check out the campground. Now today the below picture is with Covid restrictions. You can’t go inside, must wear a mask when approaching and the employees meet you outside masked when you pull up. Looks like the phone booth has been removed!
All and all our outing was a success. We found cool rigs and better reception. But before we could walk the entire campground rain began to move in. Once the thunder started we made a much quicker return to basecamp. The rest of the afternoon was spent reading, trying knots and staying dry as we had light rain all afternoon and into the night.
As the evening came Tim and I decided to dive into another domino tournament. At four games in I think Tim might be ahead.
