By golly we have gone north from Little Rock, Arkansas. Yes. It’s actually very exciting! We have lined ourselves up to attend the largest Airstream Rally that WE have ever attended. We have been amongst 500 Airstreams at a rally previously but this is way beyond that.
This Airstream International Rally and the Vintage Airstream Club Retro Rally that we just departed from this morning ( just 40-50 rigs) is the whole entire reason that we departed Alaska two weeks early. We really wanted to attend these two events!
The largest Airstream Rally so far was this very rally in 1964 held in Princeton, NJ with over 2,000 Airstreams. This year’s Airstream International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri will be at just 1,300 Airstreams which means approximately 2,600 people! And it will be the largest in recent years.
Our travels today took us from Little Rock, Arkansas through Branson, Missouri and into Springfield, Missouri. Basecamp for this evening Bass Pro Shop. And not just any Bass Pro Shop but the original and maybe the largest! (Conflicting info on the internet)
This one is dedicated to the beauty of the outdoors. with waterfalls, aquariums, firing range, boat showroom, Hemingway's Blue Water Café and more. Plus museums, Archery Hall of Fame and Wonders Of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium.
What an evening! We shopped. Took a ton of photos. Then ate at Hemingway’s Blue Water Café. AND grabbed ice cream on our way out! This is now voted as The Wymer’s 2nd favorite Bass Pro Shop. As our favorite is still the Bass Pro Shops Worldwide Sportsman on Islamorada in The Florida Keys.
Tomorrow will be a somewhat shorter drive. At just two hours we should arrive at the Airstream International Rally in Sedalia at a decent time. Fingers crossed we get good parking ;-) and that we have fabulous weather!
