The weather today was gorgeous. The last two nights we have had rain so this morning we waited for the sun to peak out and off we went on a hike.
Animas Mountain Trail is rated as the second best in the area. This is a steep 5.5 mile loop. I expected a little more for tree coverage but once we hit our turn around point (not enough time to do entire loop) the effort was well worth it.
From here you can see great views of Durango and Animas Valley to the south. Also we had the most amazing view to the north of the La Plata Mountains toward Silverton.
By the time we finished we realized we had hiked the two miles that we drove into town back toward camp but up steep inclines to get there. It was amazing! Then we headed back so that we could have dinner with friends who live in town! It was the best!!!
OUR AIRSTREAM IS BELOW ...
