Words can not even express the beauty of the landscape today that Tim and I experienced. Today we rode the coal fired steam engine train up to Silverton and back. America the beautiful for sure! We guess we took about 600 pictures today. So I will part with just a few words but mostly pictures. Awesome! Spectacular! Jaw dropping! Amazing! Indescribable! I am at a loss for words . . .
OK ... Let's see who actually reads this entire post. So about 1/8 of the way to Silverton and the ride is 50 miles one way in an open air cattle train car. I decided to go to the ladies room and walk three train cars ahead to the drink car. On my way back as I was crossing between train cars when the train lunged unexpectedly. As I grabbed a rail I heard a clunk and as I looked down I saw my GoPro bouncing down the track under the train. It had been in my pocket.
So now I'm sick to my stomach. Shaking and not so happy. Once I got back to Tim and explained what happened I remembered that there is a mini chase rail car that follows each train by a good distance. So upon our arrival in Silverton I notified the Conductor. I told him that it's a GoPro with a big orange wrist strap on it. He replied with we have it! Tim and I then walked back a few blocks to the main station where we met the rail car driver who was standing there on the tracks holding my GoPro! The camera was set in still photo mode when it got flung off the train however the dude, we think took a few pictures probably of himself, while he was trying to shut it off to conserve my battery. The camera seems to be in really good shape. Barely a scratch. I will view the photos on it tomorrow. There really are good honest people out there. OMG so lucky! This is a honest to goodness true story.
AWESOME!!!!! What an amazing journey!!!! Living your dream!!!
