I almost thought we were in Kansas but no we are still in Iowa. We are not even going to Kansas. Tomorrow we will continue east to finish crossing Iowa plus two more states then land in Ohio! Finally!!!
Not much to see on the road other than the odd fair ride, some wind turbine pieces going down the highway in the opposite direction and of course construction equipment. And yes … many, many wind turbines up everywhere out here. We also passed the world’s largest truck stop!
This evening we are staying at the CB CG. That’s the Cracker Barrel Campground in Davenport, Iowa. Not my favorite place nor the favorite place of some friends of ours. BUT it will serve it’s purpose for tonight. An easy hot meal for dinner and this CB is one of just a few that serves beer (PBR). We can also get up early for their fresh coffee and a hot breakfast (BACON) and let’s not forget the shopping!
Since Monday from Red Lodge, Montana to our destination tomorrow in Ohio we will have traveled approximately 1,650 miles. That’s four driving days and three nights. We only paid $20 for our accommodations this week. The first night was $20 at the 24 Express Campground but wait … we purchased a tank of fuel there. Last night was free at the Harvest Host farm but wait … I purchased $51 of dairy products and a t-shirt this morning. Tonight was a free stay but wait … we bought dinner here and still plan on breakfast in the morning and I haven’t even really looked in their Old Country Store yet.
Hah! I see a pattern… someone knows what they are doing!
